Super Fast Variety Package

The Hybrid Willow and Hybrid Poplar are trees which are rooted cuttings. The plants are branch sections which have been rooted. You will find each rooted cutting will have a new shoot growing from the cutting. Plant a rooted cutting as deeply as possible, with just a few inches of the new growth above ground.

The Super Fast Pack consists of: Hybrid Poplar 12-24", Paper Birch 12-18", Silver Maple 6-12", Hybrid Willow 12-24". Yes they are all bare root. You will receive 5 of each of the 4 species.

Soak roots of the seedlings for 4 to 6 hours immediately prior to planting. This is the time to use a root dip, particularly if you are unable to provide the suggested follow up care. We carry two products: Super Gel and SUPERspore. While a root dip is beneficial, it is not a substitute for follow up care. Soaking the roots helps to plump them up, which encourages water uptake and full hydration prior to planting. We do not recommend soaking longer than 8 hours as this may increase the risk of oxygen deprivation which may harm the roots.
When transporting seedlings to planting location they should be in a container which keeps roots moist right up to planting. We suggest you pack the roots in moist shredded paper or sphagnum moss. The key is to keep the roots moist at all times.
We do not recommend transporting seedlings into the field in the plastic bag in which they were delivered. A plastic bag may act as a mini-greenhouse exposing the seedlings to extreme temperatures which will harm the seedlings.

I would suggest spacing at least 30-40' away from structures. The mature width of most of these trees ranges from 30-60' wide. Typically root flare is almost equal to the width of the trees drip line. The Paper Birch could be planted more about 20' from a house, because it is the narrowest mature width of the group of trees.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to spacing as it depends on the purpose of your project. Most of the trees in the pack will be at mature width of about 25-40. Think about the tree or shrub as a mature specimen when you are planting. The seedling you are planting may seem small now, but it is sure to grow into something large and magnificent. In each description we provide details about the mature height and width of the tree or shrub. If the mature width says 20 feet and you plant several of those trees with 20 foot spacing, they will eventually touch someday at their widest point. Most people will plant the trees closer than the mature width for faster and greater coverage.
