The North Star Cherry is a small ornamental tree that provides interest year round.  In spring, beautiful and fragrant white blossoms adorn the tree as the pretty green leaves emerge.  Within a few years of planting, an abundant crop of cherries will start to form and grow until they are about 3/4" round.  These tart cherries will be ready for harvest in June each year if you can get to them before the birds do.  Birds readily consume the cherries and it is recommended that you cover the North Star Cherry with bird netting until you harvest them.  North Star cherries are used for cherry pies, cherry jelly and jams and in making wines.  This tree is self pollinating, meaning the tree will produce cherries on its own without another cherry tree.
