Redosier Dogwood

Cornus sericea

The Redosier Dogwood is best known for its attractive deep red stems and twigs.  This loose form, spreading shrub is great for erosion control and wildlife cover.  Its spring show of white clusters of flowers gives way to white berries that attract up to 18 different kinds of birds.  The red color against the snow provides brilliant winter interest.  The Redosier Dogwood is a great choice for your lowland areas, but will work well in upland areas as well.

I have an area in my yard that gets a lot of water when it rains would they be good enough to put their to soak up a lot of the water

The Red Osier Dogwood would tolerate wet areas. While they will take up some water into their biomass, it is difficult to say how much of a water reduction you would notice by planting. It would surely help to some degree, but without knowing a number of factors about the soil, etc, we couldn't guarantee the result. Thanks, CRN

Can I specify a delivery date for the dogwoods? I don't need them just yet but want to be sure I have a dozen reserved for delivery in early May.

Yes! Our nursery actively ships each spring between early April and late May. During checkout on our website, you can choose the week which you would like your order delivered. If you call in your order, please make sure the phone rep knows you would like to specify the timing of delivery. Without doing so, our nursery will choose the most appropriate window of time for your area. Thanks, CRN
